Express Entry

WHAT IS EXPRESS ENTRY?

Express Entry is an electronic application management system used to manage and process a permanent residency application. 

Who is eligible?

Anyone who would like to immigrate as a skilled worker in the following programs:  

     *   Federal Skilled Workers
    *   Canadian Experience Class
    *   Federal Skilled Trades 

how does the system work?

An eligible candidate creates a profile in the Express Entry system to be added into the candidate pool. Each candidate will receive a score based on a set of criteria in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). 


There will be a periodic draw. Candidates with the higher scores from the draw will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship of Canada.  

when is the right time to create a profile?

 -  When you meet the criteria of a program.
-  When you get your International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test result.
-  When you get your Education Credential Assessment report (for overseas qualification).

What are the criteria

Federal Skilled Workers

to be Eligible As A Federal Skilled Workers Candidate

The eligibility is based on a point grid system and must meet a minimum score of 67 out of 100 points. 


The evaluation criteria are:


  • Education credential (*)
  • English and/or French language skills (English language level must be at minimum CLB 7) 
  • Work experience with job code and description under Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC 0, A, or B)
  • Age
  • Availability of arranged employment in Canada, and
  • Adaptability


* A foreign education qualification must obtain an Education Credential Assessment report from a designated organization by the Immigration Refugee and Citizenship of Canada. 

Canadian Experience Class

To Be Eligible As A Canadian Experience Class Candidate

 A candidate must:

  • have 12 months of full-time or equivalent part-time amount of hours with paid employment within three years.
  • have work experience with job code and description under Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC 0, A, or B)
  • gain legal work experience (with work permit) in Canada.
  • meet the English and/or French language level requirement depending on the type of occupation. 


Note: For occupation NOC 0, A (English language level must be at minimum CLB 7); for occupation NOC B (English language level must be at minimum CLB 5) 

Federal Skilled Trades

To Be Eligible As A Federal Skilled Trades Candidate

 A candidate must:

  • Have two years of full-time work experience or an equal amount of hour in part-time in the skilled trade within five years
  • Meet the minimum English and/or French language level (CLB 5 for speaking and listening; CLB 4 for reading and writing) 
  • Meet the job code and description for that skilled trade in the National Occupations Classification (NOC)
  • Have a job offer of full-time employment from up to two employers for at least one year OR a certificate of qualification in the skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial body

Initial assessment

provincial nomination through Express Entry

provincial nominee program (PNP)

Provinces may access the Express Entry candidate pool and issue a Notice of Interest to their respective identified candidate.  
 

The identified candidate can then apply for provincial nomination with the province.

  

Once the province nomination has been approved, the candidate will gain significant points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and pending to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship of Canada.  

What is PNP?

Most provinces and territories in Canada can nominate candidates through their respective Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
